AMD sets Guinness World Record with overclocked FX CPU

AMD  earned the Guinness World Record for the best frequency of a microprocessor at a recent invite-only event in Austin, Texas. The team of elite overclockers and AMD employees was ready to take an eight-core Bulldozer FX CPU up to a staggering eight.429GHz, surpassing the previous record of eight.308GHz.

The tech event happened} about 2 weeks ago however as a result of nondisclosure agreements, media isn’t allowed to talk regarding everything that materialized simply however, says Anandtech. Details relating to the overclocking potential of the new platform, however, are finally ready to see the sunshine of day.

AMD had 3 stations to be had to demonstrate varying levels of overclocking. the primary station used a closed loop water cooling kit from Antec that was ready to push a hexa-core CPU up to four.8GHz. A section modification cooler was put in at consecutive station and took another FX CPU to five.894GHz using one.632 volts. Liquid helium was required to shatter the globe record. It's price noting that no benchmarks were run which CPU-Z was used to verify clock speeds.
Hot Hardware was to be had for the event and claims that the CPUs used for testing were early AMD FX-8150 processors, which solely 2 of the eight cores were enabled for the record-setting run.

“We applaud AMD for his or her entry into Guinness World Records for achieving the best Frequency of a laptop Processor,” said Guinness World Records' Freddie Hoff, who is presenting the award these days at the AMD Fusion Zone, a technology showcase in San Francisco, Calif. “We congratulate everybody concerned during this record-breaking achievement.”

Today's award ceremony takes place simply blocks from the Intel Developer Forum, that runs from September thirteen to fifteen.
